Walt Frazier

As a sophomore, Walt Frazier averaged 17.1 points and 9 rebounds per game to lead Southern Illinois to the NCAA Division II National Championship game.  As a senior in 1967, Southern Illinois was such a dominant team that they were invited to the prestigious NIT Tournament, where they became the first and only College Division team to win the NIT, defeating Marquette, 71-56, and Frazier was named MVP.  During his remarkable senior season, he averaged 18.2 points and 11.9 rebounds per game, and was named All American for the second time.

Frazier was named to the NCAA Division II’s 50th Anniversary Elite Eight Team and has been inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.  He was selected as the 5th overall pick in the 1967 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks.
